Cours préparatoire - First Grade
Les conversations
Infants don't study vocabulary and grammar before they start to speak!
Just as a child learns to speak her first language by listening to conversations around her, one of the best ways to learn a foreign language is to listen to and imitate conversations in the target language. First grade students are doing just that.
The class learned the vocabulary and sentence structures by listening to recordings, then reinforced the material through games and short written exercises. Finally, students created their own variation of the dialogue, illustrated it, and practiced with a partner. When they demonstrated their proficiency, they were able to choose a puppet and perform their dialogue for the class.
I was impressed with the first graders' performances and hope to incorporate some video in the coming weeks. For now, click on the link below and ask your child to help you learn French!
